Description
The IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon event was held with success in April 2019 and will be repeated again in the spring of 2020 and 2021. The Ironman organization, in co-operation with the Costa Navarino Resort, and the local and regional authorities of the area welcome athletes come from all over the world to compete in swimming, cycling and running.
The athletes start the event by swimming 1.9 km in the crystal clear waters of the Ionian Sea in front of the Costa Navarino resort and then immediately complete a cycle route of 90.1 km. The cycling route has an estimated total altitude of 800 meters and takes the athletes through the rolling olive clad hills towards the village of Kremidia. Finally, they run a 21.1 km course from the village of Romanos towards the stunning beach of Voidokilia and around the lagoon of Divari to Gialova and then back to the finish line in the resort.
The local population have shown their hospitality by welcoming the international athletes with open arms and many locals, along with the municipality’s school students, have formed volunteer teams to help at the many aid and refreshment stations along the route. Please note that local roads are closed during the race. Check out the Ironman website for more up to date information before each event.
