Description
The victorious battle of Schinolakka took place on March 15th, 1828, during the liberation struggle of the Greeks against the Turkish-Egyptian forces. Under the command of the Macedonian general, Tassos Karatasou, a body of seven hundred men camped in the village and successfully stopped the expansionist plans of Pasha Ibrahim's troops.
On the anniversary, a service takes place in the Church of the Holy Apostles, at Schinolakka and then a memorial service in front of the Heroes’ Monument.
